Forsyth Tech’s Aviation Technology Program is taking off

North Carolina Lt. Gov. Rachel Hunt toured Forsyth Tech’s Aviation Technology lab. The tour was part of the lieutenant governor’s Future Ready Community College Tour.During the visit, she saw the hands-on training students are receiving in the program, and she spoke with students.Students like Tevis Nance are learning how to maintain and repair different types of aircraft. Nance said, “It’s a cool feeling. I was like, oh, I made that go. And, you know, also the personal perspective, you know, like I said, just people flying on it. So you have to do the very best that you can do. Keep it safe, keep flying. But it’s a lot of responsibility.”The announcement of JetZero bringing thousands of jobs to the Triad means the sky is the limit for Nance’s future career.Hunt said the industry is changing the face of North Carolina economically.Hunt said, “We are one of the leaders in this kind of technology, and these sorts of companies are coming here. And they will absolutely change the face of our state economically because it’s an incredibly important and lucrative business model.”Due to the influx of aviation companies coming to the Triad, industry experts see a desperate need for workers and are excited to work with Forsyth Tech.There are currently 80 students enrolled in the Aviation Technician Program at Forsyth Tech.
